Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to patients in labor and delivery, overseeing maternal and fetal health throughout the childbirth process. Ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to clinical policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assess laboring patients and monitor fetal well-being using advanced electronic fetal monitoring equipment.
- Administer medications, including pain relief and antibiotics, according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures such as C-sections, cerclages, or TOLAC, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and respond to patient needs promptly.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Educate patients and their families on labor progress, postpartum care, and newborn procedures.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active RN license with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Require BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications, and proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring (EFM).
- Demonstrate competency in SVE, C-section circulation, and internal monitor placement.
- Possess prior experience working in a high-volume, level IV maternity unit preferred.
- Ability to work 13-week assignment shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with flexibility for days and nights.
