Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to women during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages, including emergency situations and assisting with C-Section procedures. This role entails supervising ancillary staff and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess the physical and psychosocial needs of patients, considering age, cultural background, and specific clinical conditions.
• Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Manage perinatal emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia with clinical judgment and expertise.
• Monitor fetal and maternal well-being during labor, including fetal heart tones, amniotic fluid status, and bleeding, recognizing and managing abnormalities.
• Administer and monitor pain control methods, supporting alternative pain management strategies as appropriate.
• Assist with epidural catheter placement, monitoring fetal and maternal status during and after medication administration.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess at least two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
• Maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
• Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring, preferably with certification from AWHONN.
• Have EPIC electronic medical record experience.
• Possess required licenses/certifications, including Fetal Heart Monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
