TactStaff Education is hiring a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, onsite position in the Lane County, Oregon area for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students while working alongside a collaborative educational team dedicated to student success.

We welcome both local candidates and qualified travelers, with travel stipends available for eligible applicants.

Position Details

-W2 employment with weekly pay

Responsibilities
-Provide sign language interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of ----Hearing students in classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and other educational settings
-Facilitate accurate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
-Support student access to curriculum while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics
-Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams
-Assist students in developing independence and full participation within the educational environment
-Maintain accurate documentation as required by the school district

Qualifications
-Associate's Degree from an Interpreter Education Program required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
-Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), Contact Variety, and English
-Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher OR RID NIC, CI, or CT Certification may be accepted in lieu of an EIPA score

Demonstrated proficiency in:
-American Sign Language (ASL)
-Contact Variety
-Manual Coded English (MCE)
-Strong receptive and expressive communication skills in both English and Sign Language
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred
