Job Description
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist Assistant supports clinical interventions by implementing evidence-based rehabilitative treatments for patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, they deliver skilled, medically necessary care to enhance patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Support and execute therapeutic interventions including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, exercises, modalities, and use of supportive devices.
- Assess patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist to modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Document all clinical activities, patient progress, and treatment minutes accurately in electronic health records per regulatory standards.
- Provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare providers regarding patient conditions and treatment plans.
- Participate in care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation team meetings to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Supervise and mentor students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist as part of clinical training and support.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year OTA experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities.
- Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license or registration in Missouri.
- Demonstrate proficiency in clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families.
- Active state licensure/registration when applicable.
- New graduates with Level II experience are eligible to apply.
