Job Description
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist Assistant supports patient rehabilitation by implementing treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. They deliver skilled interventions to patients with cognitive and physical disorders, ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical standards.
Responsibilities:
- Support clinical interventions using evidence-based practices tailored to patient needs.
- Administer rehabilitative procedures, including ADL retraining, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of assistive devices.
- Assess patient progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist for treatment adjustments.
- Document all clinical activities, patient progress, and treatment minutes accurately within electronic records.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and provide guidance to patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans.
- Participate in team meetings, care conferences, and required trainings to ensure quality patient care and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid COTA license or certification to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Possess at least 1 year of OTA experience, preferably in LTC or rehab settings.
- Maintain active licensure/registration compliant with state requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in documenting clinical activities per regulatory standards.
- Adhere to NBCOT / AOTA codes of conduct, ethics, and practice acts.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
