Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist supports safe, efficient, high-quality surgical care by assisting the RN and surgical team throughout procedures. This role ensures sterile technique is maintained, instruments and supplies are correctly handled, and the operating room is prepared for successful case flow.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the RN and surgical team with limited direct patient care as assigned.
• Set up, maintain, and protect a sterile field before and during surgical procedures.
• Prepare, organize, and stage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for each case.
• Anticipate surgeon needs by maintaining a strong understanding of the procedure being performed.
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization.
• Perform room turnover between cases, ensuring the environment is cleaned and prepared for the next patient.

Qualifications:

• Maintain current Surgical Technologist certification/credential as required by scope of practice.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, surgical workflow, and instrument identification.
• Follow AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies and procedures.
• Exhibit proficiency in handling and managing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Demonstrate strong time management, resource use, and supply handling practices.
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain required clinical competencies based on training.
