Job Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (ICU) provides safe, competent, quality care for a designated group of critically ill patients using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational standards. The role coordinates interdisciplinary planning, supports patient and caregiver education, and prioritizes patient experience, safety, and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient care using the nursing process, critical thinking, and evidence-based interventions.
- Assess, evaluate, and manage patients’ needs while coordinating care priorities, education, and transition planning.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members to support shared understanding and readiness to learn.
- Delegate and manage assignments within the care delivery model while allocating resources effectively.
- Escalate clinical, safety, and resource concerns through appropriate channels and follow established chain of command.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Maintain current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
- Possess at least 2 years of critical care/tele experience and a minimum of 2 years RN experience.
- Demonstrate ability to practice safely with high-reliability principles in an ICU setting.
- Provide evidence of effective documentation and professional communication skills.
- Prefer BSN; qualify with an Associate Degree in Nursing only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program.
