Job Description
Job Summary:
The Operating Room Nurse Manager oversees the Surgical Services Department, including the OR, outpatient surgery, anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care units. They are responsible for coordinating staff, managing resources, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the operations and staffing of the Surgical Services Department.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines to promote safety and quality improvement.
- Monitor regulatory compliance with TJC, state, and federal standards, enacting necessary changes.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and human capital to support efficient operations.
- Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration to enhance patient outcomes and staff engagement.
- Drive initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, implement evidence-based practices, and promote a Culture of Safety.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Alaska RN license in good standing.
- Complete nursing education from an NLN-approved institution; BSN or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience and 2 years of surgical services management.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; CNOR and CSSM certifications preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of AORN Guidelines and perioperative standards; familiarity with electronic health records (Cerner preferred).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to interpret clinical and regulatory information.
