Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Operating Room (OR) provides expert perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN collaborates with surgical teams to ensure patient safety, optimize outcomes, and maintain strict sterile techniques throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate perioperative workflow by preparing patients, verifying documentation, and ensuring equipment readiness.
• Assist in surgical procedures by supporting sterile staff, monitoring patient status, and documenting intraoperative events.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately per provider orders and policy.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed.
• Educate patients and families on preoperative and postoperative care requirements.
• Maintain compliance with safety, infection control standards, and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Possess an associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Hold a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska.
• Obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Demonstrate clinical competency in perioperative nursing within 3 months and every 3 years.
• Show proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in noisy environments.
