Job Description
Job Summary:
The Surgery Scheduler III is responsible for coordinating and managing surgical and procedural schedules within the cardiology department. This role ensures seamless communication among physicians, clinical staff, and ancillary teams to facilitate efficient procedure bookings and compliance with insurance protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and confirm scheduling of surgical and specialized procedures, verifying provider block time and room availability.
- Enter, update, and reschedule appointment data while communicating changes to patients and healthcare teams.
- Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, authorization approvals, and ensure all documentation is complete prior to procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support reporting, project coordination, and departmental workflows.
- Assist with training new staff and provide cross-coverage support to promote workflow efficiency.
- Manage high-volume scheduling and prioritize tasks with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent education or experience.
- Demonstrate 2+ years of recent experience in surgical or procedural scheduling.
- Be proficient with scheduling systems, data entry, and intermediate computer skills.
- Show ability to verify insurance, referrals, and prior authorizations efficiently.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills with patients, providers, and staff.
- Preferably have experience in cardiology or specialty procedural scheduling and training.
