Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Stepdown Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients recovering from cardiac procedures and surgeries. The RN utilizes clinical judgment to assess, plan, and implement effective interventions for patients with complex cardiac conditions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive care to cardiology patients, including post-procedure and post-surgical monitoring.
• Utilize clinical judgment to diagnose and respond to patient responses to treatment and health status changes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
• Maintain proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring to ensure patient safety.
• Adhere to McLaren's strict attendance policy and document all patient interactions accurately.
• Float to similar ICU or patient care units as needed to support hospital staffing.

Qualifications:

• Possess 1+ year of Stepdown or IMC/PCU experience, with demonstrated proficiency.
• Demonstrate expertise in cardiac care, including management of patients with pacemakers, TAVR, and stents.
• Comfortable interpreting EKGs and managing complex cardiovascular conditions.
• Hold a valid Michigan nursing license and required certifications (ACLS, BLS).
• Willingness to travel and float to comparable units to meet staffing demands.
• Complete a skills checklist within one year of application.
