Job Description
Job Summary:
The PCT is responsible for providing essential patient care and support services in a telemetry unit focused on cardiac and stroke patients. This role involves assisting nursing staff with clinical tasks and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, including vitals, blood sugar checks, and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Support RN staff by reading telemetry strips and monitoring patient data on specialized telemetry equipment.
- Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures to promote optimal recovery.
- Document patient information accurately and communicate any changes promptly to the healthcare team.
- Follow unit-specific protocols for patient care and safety during assigned shifts.
- Participate in classroom and on-the-floor orientation to ensure understanding of clinical procedures and unit standards.
Qualifications:
- Current BLS certification and PCT certification via NHA required.
- Prior experience working with telemetry monitoring in a hospital setting.
- Ability to accurately read telemetry strips and respond to monitor alerts.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Flexibility to work day, evening, or night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to float to other units as needed and adapt to changing patient care assignments.
