Job Description
Job Summary: The Psychiatric Technician plays a vital role in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, delivering direct patient care and clinical support. They work closely with registered nurses to ensure patient safety, facilitate therapeutic activities, and assist children and adolescents with daily needs during hospitalization.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring safety and well-being of children and adolescents.
- Engage patients in developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, and vital signs.
- Support trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive care practices.
- Assist with restraint and seclusion procedures following training protocols.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
Qualifications:
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED; Graduate of a State-certified Patient Care Technician (PCT) or similar program.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral healthcare within a high-volume, intensive setting.
- Certified in BLS (Basic Life Support) with competency in vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and blood glucose monitoring.
- Successful completion of crisis intervention training such as CPI, TRUST, TCI, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate ability to engage with youth in trauma-informed and appropriate ways.
- Preferably hold an Associate’s Degree in psychology, human services, or related field.
