Job Description
Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Technician provides direct patient care and clinical support within the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit. This role ensures safety, engages patients in therapeutic activities, and supports daily needs during hospitalization, utilizing trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive practices.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring patient safety and implementing trauma-informed care protocols.
- Assist patients with daily activities and provide essential clinical support during hospitalization.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs, and blood glucose monitoring accurately.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver individualized, developmentally appropriate care.
- Engage children and adolescents effectively, fostering a therapeutic and supportive environment.
- Follow established protocols for restraints and seclusion, ensuring compliance with training standards.
Qualifications:
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED; certification as a State Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT).
- Possess at least 2 years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health care within a high-volume, intensive setting.
- Maintain current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Be competent in performing vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and blood glucose testing.
- Successfully complete crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI, TRUST, TCI) prior to employment.
- Demonstrate ability to engage effectively with youth in a trauma-informed manner.
