Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in oncology provides direct patient care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, ensuring safety and quality outcomes. They collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient conditions and develop appropriate nursing care plans based on medical diagnoses and functional health assessments.
- Perform therapeutic nursing interventions including IV insertion, phlebotomy, and other clinical procedures.
- Manage patient care by monitoring responses to treatments and adjusting care plans accordingly.
- Document patient progress, treatments, and interventions accurately in compliance with standards of care and practice.
- Advocate for evidence-based practices and support the integration of innovative care methods.
- Provide patient-centric care aligned with professional nursing standards and ensure effective communication with patients and families.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid ASN degree with a preferred BSN.
- Possess at least 2 years of acute adult oncology nursing experience, specializing in leukemia and lymphoma.
- Maintain current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
- Certification in BLS (AHA), ACLS, and chemotherapy (ONS) preferred.
- Demonstrate proficiency in IV insertion, phlebotomy, and basic nursing skills.
- Have required licensure and certifications including BLS, ACLS, and chemotherapy certification.
