Job Description
Job Summary:
Provides occupational therapy services to patients through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to improve or restore functional abilities. Supervises Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students to ensure quality care in outpatient and acute care settings.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient’s functional status using formal and informal testing measures across skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive domains.
- Develop goal-specific treatment plans based on assessment data and patient tolerance, ensuring plan aligns with physician orders.
- Submit and update written treatment regimes as part of the plan of care, coordinating with physicians and co-signing verbal orders when necessary.
- Design treatment schedules with specific frequency and duration, discussing and coordinating plans with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on pathology, prognosis, treatment rationale, and intervention options, including exercises and modalities.
- Provide supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students according to organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Possess an active Michigan Occupational Therapist License.
- Hold current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Have a minimum of one year of pertinent occupational therapy experience, including pediatric care.
- Demonstrate recent work history and relevant skills in outpatient and acute care environments.
- Submit two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
- Be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility’s location, as local candidates are not considered.
