Job Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (IMC/PCU/Stepdown) provides high-acuity inpatient care for adults to geriatric patients, managing complex medical conditions and continuously monitoring patient status. The RN delivers evidence-based interventions, interprets telemetry to support timely clinical decisions, and ensures safe medication and treatment delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients on telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support rapid escalation of care.
- Assess, document, and manage clinical status for diagnoses including hypertensive urgency, Afib with RVR, DKA/HHS, sepsis, and respiratory insufficiency requiring BiPAP.
- Administer medications and therapies and evaluate patient response for heart failure, COPD exacerbation, post-operative recovery, GI bleed, stable stroke, and unstable angina.
- Provide ventilator-related care for chronic ventilator patients and support stabilization during acute changes.
- Coordinate care using SBAR communication and maintain accurate workflows in Epic and Pyxis systems.
- Participate in unit-based support needs, including appropriate floating within scope of practice as required.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active Registered Nurse license with GA or Compact eligibility.
- Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Complete NIH certification requirements and demonstrate readiness to support stroke-related care.
- Bring at least 2 years of RN experience in IMC/PCU/stepdown or equivalent high-acuity care.
- Demonstrate competency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of critical diagnoses.
- Use clinical documentation systems proficiently, including Epic and medication workflow tools such as Pyxis.
