Job Summary:
The 5S Trauma Stepdown Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to trauma and surgical patients in an intermediate care setting. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient stability and recovery in a specialized stepdown unit.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for multi-system-injured trauma and surgical patients within the stepdown unit.
• Monitor patient vital signs, assess clinical status, and respond promptly to changes or emergencies.
• Administer medications, including conscious sedation, and manage ventilators and telemetry systems.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies and standards.
• Float within scope to meet unit needs, including covering floor beds or SDU as required.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active WV or Compact RN license; pending license accepted upon submission.
• Possess at least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 year in ICU, Trauma, or Stepdown specialties.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV starts, Vents, Telemetry, and Level 1 Trauma care.
• Be certified in BLS, ACLS, and ideally PALS; TNCC preferred.
• Have reliable references from recent managers or charge nurses within the past 2 years.
• Complete a fit test with approved masks prior to assignment.
