Job Summary:
Provide specialized inpatient care to patients in the IMC/PCU/Stepdown units, focusing on monitoring and managing acute conditions with critical thinking skills. Deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment while adhering to hospital protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions and prioritize nursing interventions based on acuity levels.
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin, ensuring precise dosing and timely delivery.
• Perform advanced procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertions, and NG/dobhoff tube placements.
• Monitor and interpret EKG rhythms, respond to cardiac emergencies, and manage post-cardiac catheter and stroke patient care.
• Conduct hourly rounds on days and every two hours on nights, communicating effectively using AIDET and maintaining communication boards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure compliance with unit policies.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with active BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a step-down, IMC, or PCU setting.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, EKG rhythm interpretation, and IV skills.
• Experienced in administering cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips, with proficiency in advanced cardiovascular monitoring.
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred; peripheral IV skills required.
• ACLS certification required.
