Job Summary:

The Inpatient Oncology Nurse is responsible for delivering specialized care to adult hematology and oncology patients in a 28-bed acute care unit and a 15-bed Stem Cell Transplant Intermediate Care Unit. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to provide safe, effective treatment and patient management.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions thoroughly and develop individualized care plans based on clinical data.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments following established protocols.
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Adhere to facility policies on floating, travel restrictions, and documentation standards.
• Document patient care activities accurately in Epic electronic health record system.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families throughout treatment.

Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia RN license or pending license accepted, must be in hand prior to start.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience in an inpatient oncology or hematology setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Epic EHR system.
• ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification required; fundamentals course may be required based on experience.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and clinical judgment skills.
