Job Summary:
The Risk Manager / Patient Safety Officer oversees the organization's risk management and patient safety programs. They develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to minimize healthcare errors and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and maintain a comprehensive risk management program in accordance with state statutes.
• Investigate adverse incidents, evaluate reports, and ensure proper follow-up with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Facilitate patient safety assessments, root cause analyses, and failure mode effects analyses to reduce medical errors.
• Educate staff, management, and physicians on risk management and patient safety principles.
• Collaborate with leadership on quality improvement initiatives and coordinate compliance with accreditation standards.
• Monitor industry trends in patient safety and risk management to inform organizational practices.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska.
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) within two years of hire.
• Demonstrate at least 3 years of experience in risk management, patient safety, or clinical quality.
• Possess strong knowledge of healthcare accreditation requirements and quality improvement concepts.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in data analysis, clinical chart reviews, and Microsoft Office tools.
