Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care for obstetric patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases. The role involves managing perinatal emergencies, monitoring fetal and maternal well-being, and supporting families during childbirth.

Responsibilities:

• Assess physical and psychosocial status of patients, considering age, culture, and individual needs.
• Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Manage obstetric emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia with clinical judgment.
• Monitor fetal and maternal health, including fetal heart tones, amniotic fluid status, and vaginal bleeding, recognizing abnormalities.
• Administer and assist with pain control methods, including epidural placement and post-medication monitoring.
• Educate patients and families on perinatal processes and postpartum care, using culturally appropriate teaching techniques.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess a minimum of two years recent experience in labor and delivery nursing.
• Maintain current certification in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
• Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC electronic health record systems.
• Complete all required training in fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency management.
