Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides specialized nursing care to obstetric patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. This role involves managing high-risk situations, supervising ancillary staff, and supporting patients and families through childbirth and recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess physical and psychosocial health of patients, considering age, cultural background, and specific needs.
• Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Manage perinatal emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia.
• Monitor fetal and maternal well-being, including assessing amniotic fluid and vaginal bleeding, and recognizing abnormal conditions.
• Assist with pain management, including epidural placement and monitoring during and after administration.
• Educate patients and families on perinatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum processes, tailoring information to individual learning styles and cultural considerations.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years recent experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced certifications including ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
• Ability to manage perinatal emergencies with sound clinical judgment.
