Job Summary:
Facilitates the performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic surgical procedures by assisting the surgical team. Ensures the availability of instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for each procedure while maintaining a sterile environment and providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon efficiently during surgery, anticipating their needs.
• Verify surgical consent forms and ensure all necessary documentation is complete prior to the operation.
• Perform instrument counts with the circulator to prevent retained surgical items before incision and closure.
• Assist in preparing sterile dressings and securing them after incision closure.
• Clean and sterilize instruments post-procedure and assist in room turnover to prepare for subsequent patients.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology.
• Possess certification from the National Board of Surgical Technologists or the Association of Surgical Technologists.
• Maintain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Have relevant acute care experience preferred.
• Hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, with additional CPR or HS-BLS certifications preferred.
