Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide specialized speech and language therapy services to pediatric patients across outpatient settings. Evaluate, treat, and support children with diverse communication and developmental disorders to enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients’ speech, language, and cognitive abilities to formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Implement therapy sessions focused on improving communication skills and addressing developmental delays.
- Document patient progress, discharge summaries, and treatment evaluations accurately in the designated system.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, to develop comprehensive care strategies.
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercises, and safety protocols related to communication disorders.
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and documentation standards, including billing and coding requirements.
Qualifications:
- Hold valid certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) and current licensure in the state of practice.
- Bring 1-2 years of pediatric outpatient therapy experience, with some units requiring more specialized skills.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using Wellsky/Epic or similar electronic documentation systems.
- Possess BLS certification and knowledge of patient safety standards, signs of abuse, and developmentally appropriate intervention.
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced outpatient setting, including floating across units as needed.
- Experience with autism, birth defects, development delays, or language disorders preferred.
