Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care nursing to cardiac patients in the CVICU, managing complex post-operative cases and acute cardiac conditions. Ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes through specialized interventions and adherence to protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor critically ill cardiac patients, including post-op open heart and device patients.
• Administer and titrate various drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, and vasoactive medications as ordered.
• Manage ventilators, chest tubes, arterial lines, and temporary pacemakers, ensuring all devices function properly.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, including RTs, charge nurses, and physicians, to deliver coordinated patient care.
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in electronic health records.
• Respond quickly to alarms and patient emergencies, following hypothermia protocols and advanced cardiac care procedures.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license with valid certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Preferably have recent CVICU experience; open heart post-op experience a plus.
• Demonstrate proficiency with CRRT, ventilators, mediastinal/chest tubes, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Possess knowledge of common cardiac diagnoses such as MI, arrhythmias, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery.
• Experience with drips including Dopamine, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, and Insulin.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently.
