Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering specialized respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including assessments, procedures, and medication administration, primarily during night shifts. The role requires proficiency in critical care settings, ventilator management, and aerosol therapy to support patient breathing and comfort.

Responsibilities:

• Perform adult critical care respiratory procedures including extubation, suctioning, and airway management.
• Administer inhaled medications such as albuterol, Spiolto, Pulmicort, and Racemic Epinephrine through various delivery systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation, including high-flow nasal cannula, BiPaP, and CPAP systems.
• Manage tracheostomy care and perform pulmonary hygiene and sputum collection.
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC EMR and adhere to hospital policies.
• Float to other units or campuses as required, maintaining competency in all assigned areas.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in South Carolina.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in adult critical care environments.
• Proficient in ventilator management, aerosol therapy, and airway procedures.
• Exceptional knowledge of medications administered via inhalation and nebulizers.
• Demonstrate experience with EPIC EMR documentation.
• Must be COVID-free and compliant with all licensing and certification requirements.
