Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to women throughout the childbirth process. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective delivery experiences in high-acuity obstetric environments.
Responsibilities:
- Administer evidence-based nursing interventions for laboring patients, including fetal monitoring and pain management.
- Assess maternal and fetal conditions continuously to identify potential complications.
- Develop, update, and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient needs and clinical standards.
- Educate patients and families on childbirth processes, postpartum care, and newborn care.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to nursing support staff while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
- Participate in emergency response and high-risk obstetric scenarios, demonstrating proficiency in neonatal and maternal resuscitation.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Minnesota RN license and current BLS and NRP certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, including high-risk cases.
- Demonstrate fetal monitoring expertise and antepartum care experience.
- Proficient in Epic EMR and familiar with obstetric clinical practices.
- Must have documented experience with newborn, adolescent, and adult patient populations.
- Provide current skills checklist and two supervisory references.
