Job Summary:

A Neonatal Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing specialized respiratory care to neonates in a high-acuity Level 2 Special Care Nursery. The therapist ensures optimal respiratory support through a range of advanced techniques and clinical interventions.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medicated aerosol therapies, including small volume nebulizers and inhalers, while providing patient education on aerosol, MDI, DPI, and holding chamber use
• Operate medication carts and Omnicell systems, ensuring accurate barcoding and medication administration
• Perform suctioning, manual ventilation, and assist with intubation procedures
• Deliver high-risk delivery interventions such as surfactant administration and neonatal resuscitation protocols
• Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation to guide clinical decisions
• Implement humidified and heated humidity therapies using aerosol masks, nasal cannulas, and oxygen masks

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Neonatal Respiratory Therapist credential or license
• Demonstrate proficiency in neonatal respiratory interventions and procedures
• Maintain knowledge of NRP protocol, high-risk delivery techniques, and advanced ventilation methods
• Prior experience in a Level II nursery or similar setting preferred
• Strong patient education and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced neonatal care environment
