Job Summary:
Provides culturally relevant evidence-based crisis intervention services within the hospital setting for individuals experiencing behavioral, emotional, substance, or mental disorders. Performs assessments, crisis stabilization, and coordination of care to ensure patients receive appropriate treatment and support.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver crisis intervention services in the emergency room and other hospital departments for individuals in behavioral, emotional, or mental health crisis.
• Evaluate patients in crisis and determine the most appropriate level of care, including involuntary psychiatric assessments under Alaska statutes.
• Coordinate care with hospital staff, external agencies, and community providers to facilitate higher levels of care when needed.
• Document all clinical services accurately in the electronic health record in compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
• Implement trauma-informed care principles across all patient and community interactions.
• Support discharge planning and connect patients with ongoing behavioral health services and community resources.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); license must be maintained throughout employment.
• Possess at least 2 years of experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting.
• Demonstrate knowledge of behavioral health assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based intervention techniques.
• Have current BLS certification within 3 months of hire and an Alaska Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
