Job Summary:
The CVICU RN is responsible for providing advanced cardiac intensive care to postoperative cardiac surgery patients, including those with complex cardiovascular conditions and devices. The nurse delivers comprehensive patient assessments, manages life-support equipment, and coordinates patient care for optimal recovery outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor critical cardiac treatments, including sedation, vasoactive drips, and IV therapies, ensuring patient stability.
• Perform invasive procedures such as chest tube management, arterial line placement, and temporary pacemaker use with precision and safety.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition, interpreting dysrhythmias, ABGs, and hemodynamic data for timely interventions.
• Manage patients with multiple organ dysfunction, including renal support like CVVHD/CRRT and neurocritical care such as lumbar drains.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in EPIC and adhere to established protocols and safety standards.
• Float within the ICU units as needed, demonstrating flexibility and clinical competence across various specialized units.

Qualifications:

• Active NJ or Compact nursing license required at the time of submission.
• Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience, or SICU experience with specialized cardiac training.
• Proficiency in managing post-op cardiac cases, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR procedures.
• Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required at onboarding.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex invasive procedures and manage vasoactive and paralytic medications.
• Strong charting skills required, with EPIC experience preferred.
