Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the CVICU provides expert nursing care to post-cardiac surgery patients, including those with ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO. This role requires specialized skills in cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, and multisystem management to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Administer comprehensive cardiac and post-operative care, including managing IV therapies, medications, and circulatory support devices.
• Monitor and interpret cardiovascular parameters, including 12-lead EKG, FloTrac/Vigileo, and dysrhythmia analysis.
• Perform respiratory interventions such as ventilator management, chest tube care, and ABG analysis.
• Manage renal therapies, including CVVHD/CRRT, and address acute or chronic renal failure.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and utilize PPE appropriately, ensuring patient safety.
• Document patient status accurately and thoroughly in EPIC, adhering to hospital standards.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NJ or Compact RN license at the time of submission.
• Possess 2+ years of recent CVICU experience, with familiarity in managing post-op cardiac cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax.
• Have current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Experienced in chest tube management, ventilator care, and titrating vasoactive and sedation medications.
• Capable of floating within all ICU units and PICU as needed.
