Job Summary:
Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of results. Maintains specimen integrity, adheres to safety protocols, and provides guidance to trainees and support staff.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts clinical laboratory tests across multiple disciplines including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology, and blood banking.
• Reviews, evaluates, and documents test results, ensuring validity and accuracy by comparing with expected values.
• Employs proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, preservation, and transportation techniques.
• Upholds patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Prioritizes laboratory orders based on severity (STAT, ASAP, routine) and performs quality control checks regularly.
• Communicates critical results promptly and documents findings thoroughly.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or allied health fields.
• Demonstrate clinical laboratory experience, preferably with at least two years of recent practice.
• Possess a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in California.
• Maintain current certification from ASCP or NCA.
• Be BLS certified with a valid nursing license if applicable.
• Exhibit proficiency in EPIC and laboratory safety standards.
