Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients in a 24-bed unit, ensuring high-quality treatment and patient safety. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, efficient care aligned with hospital standards.
Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy and perform occasional procedures such as pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis.
- Monitor patient conditions, respond to changes, and document accurately in Cerner EMR.
- Follow hospital policies, protocols, and dress code guidelines to maintain compliance and professionalism.
- Support team efforts by floating to other medical-surgical units as needed and adhering to unit guidelines.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and post-discharge care.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing learning to enhance clinical skills and unit collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in North Carolina.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in oncology or med-surg units.
- Current BLS certification required; chemo certification preferred.
- Ability to work 6 weekend days per schedule with rare on-call shifts.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced oncology environment.
