Job Description
Job Summary:
The dietitian plans and delivers nutritional care to patients, ensuring adherence to current clinical standards and best practices. Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team, they serve as a liaison between dietary patient services and medical staff to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, reassess, and screen patients to identify nutritional risks using electronic medical records and clinical judgment.
- Confer with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to develop appropriate nutrition intervention and care plans.
- Conduct nutritional evaluations, utilizing standardized standards and physical exam techniques to determine patients' nutritional status.
- Provide personalized nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families, tailored to diet orders and individual needs.
- Participate in medical and discharge rounds as needed to coordinate care.
- Appropriately document all assessments and interventions, adhering to established healthcare standards.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and completion of an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics.
- Possess a current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, including passing the CDR national exam.
- Minimum of one year of clinical dietetics experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems, such as CBORD and Meditech.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting.
