Job Summary:

Provides specialized nutritional care and education to patients by assessing their dietary needs, monitoring food and drug interactions, and collaborating with healthcare providers to develop appropriate diet plans.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients’ nutritional status by conducting thorough assessments and reviewing medical records.
• Educate patients and their families on food and drug interactions, ensuring understanding of dietary instructions.
• Document dietary assessments, educational sessions, and patient's comprehension accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to recommend suitable diet modifications based on patient needs.
• Adjust patient menus and diet plans as necessary to support optimal health outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with relevant certification, licensure, and facility policies.

Qualifications:

• Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience in clinical nutrition or dietetics.
• Hold a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition from an accredited institution.
• Have successfully obtained required licensure or certification, such as New York State Certification as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” or registration with CDR.
• Demonstrate strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
• Preferred: A master’s degree in a related field and current AHA BLS certification.
