Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Care Psychiatric Technician (PCT) is responsible for supporting patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues in a fast-paced emergency psychiatric unit. They assist with clinical duties, patient monitoring, and ensuring a safe environment under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.

Responsibilities:

• Perform phlebotomy and 12 Lead EKGs to support diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor patients closely, conducting 1:1 observations and transporting patients as needed.
• Assist physicians and nurses with medication administration, patient searches, and property inventory.
• Conduct patient contraband searches and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Operate and troubleshoot telemetry and respiratory equipment; assist in escalating respiratory needs.
• Support with laboratory specimen collection and respond to clinical emergencies as directed.

Qualifications:

• Hold current BLS and De-Escalation (CPI) certifications.
• Experience in phlebotomy and performing 12 Lead EKGs required.
• Able to assist with medication administration including IM injections and PO meds; no IVs required.
• Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and trauma.
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage behavioral issues and de-escalate situations.
• Prior experience working with mentally stable and moderate-to-severely ill psychiatric patients preferred.
