Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs all aspects of patient exams in nuclear medicine, ensuring high-quality imaging and adherence to established policies and safety protocols. Operates imaging equipment and administers radioactive substances to obtain diagnostic images for physician review.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic nuclear medicine studies, including measuring and preparing radioactive isotopes.
- Obtain patient history, explain procedures, and address concerns to ensure patient comfort and compliance.
- Operate and maintain nuclear imaging equipment, performing routine checks and troubleshooting as needed.
- Identify, prepare, and administer medications or substances within the scope of practice as prescribed.
- Complete quality assurance and safety practices to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and self.
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
Qualifications:
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine with ARRT or NMTCB certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
- Current Michigan license verification if applicable.
- BLS certification is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety, instrumentation, and imaging protocols.
- Skills checklist completed within the last year for RN specialties; preferred for other professions.
