Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to post-operative cardiac and vascular patients in a dedicated stepdown unit. Ensure patient safety, facilitate recovery, and maintain high standards of clinical excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and titrate various IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine as prescribed.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac strips with the support of Cardiac Monitoring Technicians.
• Collaborate with Charge Nurses and House Supervisors to coordinate patient care and unit operations.
• Perform post-op assessments and manage complex cardiac and vascular surgical patients recovering from procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, TAVRs, AAA repairs, and angiograms.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, medication administration, and clinical interventions.
• Adhere to established protocols for infection control, safety, and quality patient care standards.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state and relevant cardiac/vascular experience.
• Proven ability to titrate and manage titratable drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, and other cardiac medications.
• Familiarity with common cardiac diagnoses including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and float to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute.
