Job Summary:


The Progressive Care Unit/Step Down nurse provides specialized care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients on a medical/surgical inpatient unit. They deliver comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to enhance patient recovery and comfort.



Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients using advanced medical equipment, including A-lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support devices.
• Administer and manage medications such as Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, and Dopamine.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Provide education and discharge planning to patients and their families, ensuring understanding of post-hospital care needs.
• Precept and mentor junior staff, acting as a clinical leader to uphold nursing standards.
• Respond promptly to patient deteriorations, utilizing skilled assessment to intervene effectively.
  
  
  
  Qualifications:
• Current Montana RN license with active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care or progressive care experience.
• Proficient in operating advanced medical equipment and interpreting telemetry and EKGs.
• Demonstrates strong assessment, medication management, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Pediatric experience and post-heart catheterization background preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to policies and procedures.
