Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown, ensuring best practices in patient assessment, intervention, and education. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective care from admission through discharge.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for medical, surgical, and post-procedural patients in the PCU, including those requiring ventilatory support and advanced monitoring.
- Operate and manage complex medical equipment such as A-lines, chest tubes, IV pumps, and invasive lines, ensuring patient safety.
- Administer and manage medications, including IV therapies for drugs like Heparin, Diltiazem, and Amiodarone, adhering to protocols.
- Act as a clinical leader by precepting staff, providing guidance, and contributing to a collaborative care environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in discharge planning, patient education, and documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current Montana RN licensure required.
- Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; PALS required within 6 months if not already obtained.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in cardiac, medical-surgical, or critical care units.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cardiovascular monitoring, medication administration, and use of advanced nursing equipment.
- Pediatric experience and post-heart catheterization experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret EKGs and perform basic cardiac telemetry monitoring.
