Job Summary:

The Operating Room RN Circulator provides expert nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring safety, aseptic technique, and effective team coordination. This role involves managing the perioperative environment, advocating for patient safety, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Verify patient identity, surgical site, consent, and medical history to ensure procedural accuracy.
• Prepare and organize the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments prior to procedures.
• Manage intraoperative activities, including opening sterile supplies, handling specimens, and documenting events.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to physiological changes, collaborating with anesthesia providers.
• Document all nursing care, medications, supplies, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record.
• Assist with patient transfer to postoperative units, providing hand-off reports to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program; BSN preferred.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state; compact license accepted.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 1–2 years of OR circulator experience preferred, with knowledge of surgical procedures and aseptic technique.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills; ability to work independently in a resource-limited setting.
