Job Summary:
The Histology Technician is responsible for preparing and processing tissue specimens for diagnostic examination. This role involves embedding, sectioning, staining, and maintaining tissue samples in accordance with established protocols to support accurate pathology diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

• Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue specimens to ensure optimal quality for pathology review.
• Prepare cytopathology specimens for microscopic examination, maintaining rigorous adherence to technical standards.
• Manage laboratory supplies and maintain equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Document procedures, specimen details, and maintenance activities accurately within laboratory records.
• Participate in quality assurance programs to uphold laboratory standards and accuracy.
• Follow safety protocols and compliance procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or an HTL certification from a recognized agency.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of histology experience in a clinical or surgical setting.
• Maintain an active NY State Histotechnician AAS license.
• Demonstrate proficiency in tissue processing, staining techniques, and laboratory safety standards.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail and adherence to quality control procedures.
