Job Summary:
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and proper handling, and processing samples for laboratory testing. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with diverse patient populations to deliver quality care.

Responsibilities:

• Draw blood specimens from patients using proper technique and safety procedures.
• Receive, handle, and process specimens, ensuring proper documentation and labeling.
• Perform pre-analytic tasks, such as accessioning specimens and maintaining laboratory workflow.
• Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment needed for specimen collection and processing.
• Follow all applicable local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
• Complete required documentation, including test orders, specimen tracking, and quality assurance records.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active CA State Phlebotomy Certification or equivalent.
• Possess a valid CA State License for Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technician, as applicable.
• Have at least 2 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrate proficiency in blood collection techniques across diverse patient populations.
• Maintain current certifications such as AHA or ARC CPR/First Aid.
• Be able to accurately complete computerized patient registration and specimen processing tasks.
