Job Summary:

The HIM Analyst is responsible for validating, processing, and transmitting medical records across various healthcare facilities. Ensuring timely and accurate release of information, the role emphasizes customer service and adherence to privacy standards.

Responsibilities:

• Verify the authenticity of all authorizations, ensuring compliance with core elements before proceeding.
• Answer phone calls courteously, providing support to both internal and external customers.
• Retrieve, sort, and stamp incoming mail and faxes, organizing documents for processing.
• Log all requests for release of medical information in the ROI tracking system, detailing requestor, address, date, and document type.
• Protect electronic media with passwords and certify medical records as needed.
• Process in-person requests, accepting payments, validating identity, and finalizing releases.
• Track and order office supplies as required and escalate questionable requests to the HIM Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare setting with electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to work independently, exercise critical thinking, and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills.
• Capable of sitting for long periods and managing a high volume of calls.
• High School diploma with 2+ years of healthcare experience or an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Certification through AHIMA preferred.
