Job Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse I (RN I) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care within the labor and delivery department. This role involves assessing patients, developing care plans, and collaborating with the care team to ensure positive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process, supporting optimal health outcomes.
- Educate patients and families with culturally sensitive information to promote understanding and facilitate smooth transitions of care.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and ancillary staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and patient progress in the electronic health record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Current New Mexico RN license or active Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Skilled in perinatal care, labor support, delivery, and newborn assessment.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and respond calmly to emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to culturally competent care.
