Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients under the supervision of the unit Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Delivers patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to healthcare standards. Acts as a patient advocate and collaborates with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social needs upon admission and document findings within designated timeframes.
• Develop and initiate individualized care plans based on assessments, updating plans every 24 hours or as patient condition changes.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to foster a compassionate environment.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and self-care strategies, promoting independence.
• Adhere to infection control protocols, medication safety policies, and regulatory guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Document patient care activities, communicate effectively with team members, and coordinate care to maintain continuity.

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan RN license verified through LARA and Nursys.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience; experience floating to PCU preferred.
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of heart rhythms.
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia recognition test prior to floor assignment.
• Current skills checklist relevant to Med Surg/Telemetry within the last year.
