Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist performs a full range of high-complexity laboratory testing in a hospital-based environment, ensuring accurate and timely results to support patient care. This role requires independent technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and adherence to regulatory standards to maintain laboratory quality and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all levels of testing, including CLIA-defined high complexity procedures, with precision and reliability.
• Evaluate, interpret, and troubleshoot test results, collaborating with colleagues to resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and review laboratory procedures, ensuring compliance with CLIA, CAP, and Joint Commission standards.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide training, supervision, and ongoing education for laboratory staff and students.
• Support laboratory quality initiatives by establishing quality control programs and participating in process improvement activities.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field; certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (AMT), or equivalent required.
• Possess at least one year of progressively responsible clinical laboratory experience or hospital internship post-degree.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems and other relevant software applications.
• Ability to independently assess specimen validity, interpret test results, and troubleshoot technical problems.
• Clinical competency must be achieved within three months of hire and maintained every three years.
