Job Summary: The Surgical Tech I provides essential support in the operating room by handling instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment, and assisting surgical teams during procedures. This role emphasizes maintaining instrument care, adhering to policies, and supporting patient safety.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and organize surgical instruments and supplies according to surgeon preferences and standard policies.
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout procedures.
• Handle specimens and administer medications following established protocols.
• Ensure sterilization, disinfection, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
• Remove used equipment and dispose of contaminated items safely at the conclusion of procedures.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to plan patient care and assess the effectiveness of interventions.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training.
• Possess or be eligible for professional certification by the AST.
• Demonstrate the ability to lift at least 50 lbs and push/pull up to 400 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long durations and perform physical tasks required in surgical settings.
• Capable of modifying care based on patient needs, including communication with diverse patient populations.
