Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families during all stages of maternity, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. The role involves managing obstetric emergencies, supervising ancillary staff, and supporting patient education to ensure safe and effective care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess physical and psychosocial status of obstetric patients with attention to age, cultural differences, and individual needs.
• Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members.
• Manage perinatal emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia with clinical judgment.
• Monitor fetal and maternal well-being, including assessing amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and recognizing abnormalities.
• Administer and manage pain control options, including assisting with epidural placement and monitoring during and after medication administration.
• Educate patients and families on perinatal and postpartum care, tailoring communication to each individual's learning readiness and cultural background.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in the practicing state.
• Minimum of two years recent experience in labor and delivery.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
• Completion of Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course.
• Ability to work rotating night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours/week.
• EPIC electronic health record experience required.
